You either use windows audio, or you use an asio interface like the mackie. I just want to hear playback and use the Mackie Blackjack as the input device. It does allow for separate input and output devices. Thanks for all the excellent input! That implies to get playback he has to switch to the Windows Audio each time he wants to listen back via his speakers or even the headphone jacks on his laptop. Well, that wasn't working He is out of time for today, but I'll know by Monday And in theory I assume he should be able to hear playback via the laptop speakers too? Messed up some things on my system that i need. When we pull up the Windows audio, it throws an error message: The sample rate does not match your audio device configuration. Final edit makes no sense via those speakers but that's fine. My desktop monitors are excellent, and I currently use them for pre-roll, playback and editing. Not the end of the world, but certainly an extra step that doesn't make sense to me. Asio doesnt work that way. Turn one way and it is the sound direct from the interface, turn the other way and it is the sound from the daw. The phones would monitor what the knob tells them to. I am happy to read docs or watch videos or do the work, just not sure where to start to figure this out. Once I upgrade to the PreSonus gear do I have the options of recording via their interface, but output via my computers sound system? Plug the headphones, or monitor speakers into that. We are only recording a single track audiobook so the easier the better for him. Who is online Users browsing this forum: No registered users and 17 guests. Print view. That works great for recording. I'm helping a co-worker with their Studio One Artist setup, trying to match mine as closely as possible given we have totally different machines. When we try to pull up the Windows Audio to set it for output S1 just hangs.

Toggle navigation PreSonus Forums. All suggestions welcomed! He brought his laptop to me, and we tested it. That being said, some folks have had success with it, however i personally have not. Even with the Mackie set up as the recording interface? Don Studio One v4.

Iirc, the mackie has a mix knob. But can't figure out how to get the speakers to playback, or even the headphone jack on the Mackie Blackjack. Page 1 of 1. Post a reply. Alternately he could plug in his Mackie to monitor with headphones Am I missing anything? Be advised, using it is not supported by Presonus. Not only is it not supported If you choose to go this route you're on your own with tech support. It works with the Mackie interface and he can monitor via the headphones directly on the Mackie. And you really dont want the laptop speakers running when you are trying to record spoken word i wouldnt think. The rate you set I want to be sure it's possible to have playback with headphones on the laptop not the Mackie OR for basic monitoring pre-roll use the speakers on the laptop. The only chance of this happening, is by using asio4all as the audio driver. Where it is a pain is if he wants to do a rough edit timing on his laptop. As for wanting speakers, he has a decent enhanced audio setup on his laptop and they would be fine for pre-roll for spoken word. Why not use the mackie as input and output.
